Heatwave predicted in Cleveland this week! Be Prepared

Local forecasters indicate that the warmest days on average in Cleveland are July 9-16th. This week they are predicting temperatures in the 90s through Sunday, so well above the normal average of 83 degrees. These days also occur consecutively, which means we have a heatwave approaching.

When heatwaves happen, it is important to pay attention to your body and act accordingly. It is also important that we keep an eye on our older residents, babies, and pets. Everyone can safely enjoy this unseasonably hot weather by following these tips:

City of Cleveland, CPP begin installation of 61,000 LED streetlights

The City of Cleveland recently announced the launch of its streetlight conversion program, a project that combines cost-saving and energy-efficient LED streetlights with smart camera technology. A total of 61,000 streetlights –owned by Cleveland Public Power (CPP) – are scheduled to be replaced over an 18-month period. The $35 million project is part of Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s Safe Smart CLE initiative. 

Bob Kinstler receives Hard Hat Award

It was only fitting that Cleveland Public Power Leader Lineman Bob Kinstler was awarded the AMP Hard Hat Safety Award on October 11, 2018, as the public power utility was celebrating Public Power Week. Public Power Week is a national celebration, which allows utilities to showcase the work they do, and demonstrate the importance of publicly owned utilities.

Cleveland Public Power (CPP) received the Diamond designation from the American Public Power Association for being a Reliable Public Power Provider (RP3)®. The honor for providing reliable and safe electric service was presented by Neil James, Manager of Distribution Operations at ‎Santee Cooper, South Carolina and chair of the Association’s RP3 Review Panel, in April during the Association’s annual Engineering & Operations Technical Conference held in Raleigh, N.C
